A/HRC/37/L.23 relating to the mandate of the special rapporteur in the field of cultural rights while recognizing the importance of historical, cultural and religious backgrounds and states responsibility to promote and protect such rights and fundamental freedoms.

The resolution further recognizes the respect for cultural diversity and rights. This resolution is adopted with out a vote

Hence the resolution requests the UN high commissioner to provide all the necessary resources, and states to cooperate with the special rapporteur. Also requested the special rapporteur to engage with civil society and international organization to make sure these rights are protected and investigate any corresponding violations in order to report back to the council.
